Energy Locals is an Australian-based and operated energy provider with 100% carbon-neutral electricity plans that work a bit differently. Energy Locals offers customers electricity at wholesale market rates and charges a monthly membership fee to cover the cost of providing the service. It claims that it doesn't earn money from customers’ energy usage and that this approach gives its customers lower energy rates.
Energy Locals has two plans on offer in each state — Online Member and Local Member plans. Online Member plans have a lower membership fee, require direct debit and offer online support only. Local Member plans have no credit card fees and offer both phone and email support.
